Description

Red is the colour that fades first, and shows it most

More tractors in India are red than any other colour, and red pigment is also the one that loses depth fastest under strong sun. That combination is why a Mahindra bonnet can look tired long before the machine is. It is also why a careless touch-up on a Mahindra stands out so badly: a fresh red against a sun-aged red is one of the most visible mismatches in the field.

Coatee carries two Mahindra reds, Tengo Red and MM Red, both mixed to the original factory shades. Between them they cover the full Mahindra model range. Match against the panel you are repairing rather than guessing, and the patch will settle into the surrounding paint.

The Mahindra shades we match

  • Tengo Red for bonnets, fenders and main bodywork.
  • MM Red for bodywork on machines finished in the alternative Mahindra red.

If you are not certain which red your machine uses, the printed shade card shows the true swatches side by side, which a screen cannot reproduce accurately. Any Coatee dealer can also confirm it. We add new shades to the range regularly as manufacturers update their finishes.

What the can gives you

  • 18 to 20 square feet of coverage from one 300g can in a single application.
  • Quick-drying acrylic, so the tractor goes back to work the same day.
  • A sealed barrier over bare metal against rain, mud and fertiliser, which is what stops a chip turning into rot.
  • Resistance to fading, formulated for the pigment that needs it most.
  • No brushes, no tins, no thinning.

Blending a repair into faded red

On a machine that has spent years outdoors, the surrounding paint has lost some depth and your fresh red will look brighter than it. Two things help. Keep the repair area as small as the damage allows, so there is less new colour to notice. And feather the outer edge of your spray by easing off the nozzle as you pass beyond the repair, so the new paint thins out gradually instead of stopping at a hard line. A soft edge reads as a shadow. A hard edge reads as a patch.

How to touch up a Mahindra panel

  1. Wash and degrease. Paint will not bond over diesel film or dried mud. Let it dry completely.
  2. Take rust back to sound metal. Fine sandpaper. Painting over rust hides it briefly and then lifts.
  3. Mask around the area. Newspaper and tape are enough, and overspray travels further than you expect.
  4. Shake the can, then spray in light passes. Six to eight inches out, moving steadily. Two or three thin coats beat one heavy coat, which is what causes runs.
  5. Leave a few minutes between coats. Rushing this is the most common reason a home repair looks patchy.

Common questions

Will it fit my Mahindra model?
Yes. The Mahindra shades cover the full model range.

Tengo Red or MM Red?
Compare against the actual panel. The printed shade card shows both swatches accurately, and a dealer can confirm which your machine uses.

My tractor has faded. Will the repair match?
The paint matches the original factory shade. Where surrounding paint has aged in the sun, a repair will read slightly fresher. Keeping the repair small and feathering the edge makes this almost invisible.

How many cans do I need?
One 300g can covers 18 to 20 square feet in a single application, which handles a set of scratches or a chipped fender edge. Order two for a bonnet.

Is the kit worth it?
For more than a couple of scratches, the Coatee Spray Paint Kit bundles the colour-matched paint with sandpaper, professional-grade thinner and a microfibre cloth.
