Description

Light shades show your technique. Dark ones hide it

Sonalika machines run on the pale end of the tractor colour range. Sky blue, light grey and silver all reflect more light than a deep green or red does, and that means they are less forgiving of an uneven spray. A heavy patch that would disappear into a dark bonnet will read as a shadow on a Sonalika panel.

None of that is a reason to send the tractor to a workshop. It is a reason to work in thin, even passes and to keep the can moving. Coatee Sonalika shades are mixed to the original factory finishes, so the colour is right before you start. Getting a clean result is then just a matter of not rushing the coats.

The Sonalika shades we match

  • SO Sky Blue for the main bodywork, bonnet and fenders.
  • SO DD Grey for castings, housings and lower structural parts.
  • SO Silver for trim, guards and detailing.

Between them these cover the full Sonalika model range. We add new shades regularly as manufacturers update their finishes, and the Coatee shade card always shows the current list with prices.

What the can gives you

  • 18 to 20 square feet of coverage from one 300g can in a single application.
  • Quick-drying acrylic so the machine goes back to work the same day.
  • A sealed barrier over bare metal against rain, mud and fertiliser, which is what stops a chip becoming rot.
  • Fade and weather resistance through long hours in strong sun.
  • No brushes, no tins, no thinning.

Spraying a pale panel cleanly

Three things make the difference on light colours. Keep the can the same distance from the panel through the whole pass, because moving closer at the middle of a stroke lays down more paint there and that band will show. Start the spray just before the panel and release it just after, so the pass is already at full speed when it crosses the repair. And build up in three light coats rather than two heavier ones. Light shades reveal density differences that a dark colour would swallow.

How to touch up a Sonalika panel

  1. Wash and degrease. Mud and diesel film stop paint bonding. Dry the panel completely.
  2. Take rust back to sound metal. Fine sandpaper, then feather the edge of the surrounding paint so there is no step for the new coat to catch on.
  3. Mask generously. Overspray on a pale panel is more visible than on a dark one, and it carries further than most people expect.
  4. Shake well, then spray light passes. Six to eight inches out, can moving at a steady speed, three thin coats.
  5. Leave a few minutes between coats. This is where most home repairs go wrong.

Common questions

Will it fit my Sonalika model?
Yes. The Sonalika shades cover the full model range.

Which shade do I need?
Match against the panel you are repairing, not the machine overall. Bodywork, castings and trim commonly use different shades. The printed shade card shows the true swatches, which a screen cannot reproduce.

How many cans?
One 300g can covers 18 to 20 square feet in a single application. That is enough for a set of scratches or a chipped fender edge. Order two for a bonnet.

Will it stop rust?
Yes, provided you remove existing rust first. Sprayed over rust, any paint will lift.

Would the kit be better?
On pale shades, preparation matters more than usual. The Coatee Touch-Up Kit adds sandpaper, professional-grade thinner and a microfibre cloth to the colour-matched can.
