Eicher carries the widest shade range in the Coatee agri lineup. Red, coral orange, dark grey, silver and off white, five distinct finishes for one make, where most manufacturers need two or three. That is a direct reflection of how many colour schemes Eicher machines have worn over the years.

It also means picking the right one matters more here than on any other make. Two Eicher tractors parked side by side may not be the same colour, and a red that is close but not correct is more obvious than no repair at all. Match against the panel in front of you rather than against the badge.

Telling red from coral orange

This is the one decision worth taking a minute over. On a sun-aged machine the two can look closer than they are, because red loses depth as it weathers and drifts towards orange. Do not judge from a faded bonnet. Find a panel that has been shaded from the sun, the underside of a fender or an area behind a guard, and compare against that. It will be closer to the original factory colour than anything the sun has reached. If you are still unsure, the printed shade card shows both swatches side by side and any Coatee dealer can confirm.

How to touch up an Eicher panel

1. Wash and degrease. Paint will not bond over mud or diesel film. Let it dry fully.
2. Sand rust back to sound metal and feather the edge of the surrounding paint.
3. Mask around the repair. Newspaper and tape are enough, and overspray travels further than expected.
4. Shake, then spray light passes. Six to eight inches out, steady movement, two or three thin coats rather than one heavy one.
5. Allow drying time between coats. Rushing this is the most common cause of a patchy finish.

Will the repair match a faded machine?
The paint matches the original factory shade. Where surrounding paint has aged, keep the repair small and feather the outer edge of the spray so the new colour thins out gradually rather than stopping at a hard line.
